SKYLANDERS SWAP FORCE heads to the NINTENDO 3DS in the fall

This past Thursday (8/29/13), I got a phone call from Activision Publishing to let me know about the new Nintendo 3DS version of Skylanders SWAP Force. The game will be coming out on October 13 in North America (it will be out a few days later in Australia and Europe) and they wanted to know if I wanted to share some advance screen shots with my readers, in which I gladly accepted.

There will be three new characters in the Nintendo 3DS version of Skylanders SWAP Force (Rattle Shake, Volcanic Eruptor, and Free Ranger) that are not found in any other Skylanders Starter Pack.

Unique to SWAP Force games, you now have the choice to swap the top and bottom halves of the toys to switch 16 action figures into more than 250 unique combination figures. The new game is compatible with all of the toys from the past 2 games (Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure and Skylanders Giants) and all of the characters’ abilities, levels and customization you worked on in those games, will be automatically ported to Skylanders SWAP Force.

Be sure to check out some exclusive advance screen shots below and you can click here to pre-order the starter pack and action figures at

Today, August 16th 2013, Activision Publishing announced that Skylanders Giants was the #1 best-selling console and hand-held video game in dollars in both U.S. and Europe year-to-date in 2013.

The Skylanders figures outsold all action-figure properties in the U.S. and Europe year-to-date in 2013, and the Skylanders property outpaced all toy properties overall in the U.K. year-to-date as of June 30, 2013 including giants likes Star Wars and Marvel!

As of July 31, 2013, the Skylanders franchise has generated life-to-date more than $1.5 billion in worldwide retail sales, and year-to-date in 2013, in both North America and Europe, Skylanders Giants was the #1 best-selling console and hand-held game overall in dollars

Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing commented on this milestone:

“We began something very special with Skylanders and the magic of bringing toys to life through a video game, But it’s not just about the game. We know the toys have to be just as creative and imaginative as the kids that play with them, and that’s why we’re so excited to bring even more innovations — like dynamic swapability — to this genre when Skylanders SWAP Force comes out in October.”

Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure and Skylanders Giants were developed by Toys For Bob, and Skylanders SWAP Force is being developed by Vicarious Visions. For more information, visit
